This issue’s featured gourd art piece is “Sea Life” by Carrie Dearing! The aquatic scene is completely carved out and painted with a partial cut-out showing through to the inside of the gourd, which has been completely painted and finished. A molded, clay starfish clings to the rim of the gourd, and artificial “sea grass” foliage lends the perfect accent. The gourd is mounted on a base to give it stability. The gourd and base alone stand 20 inches high, and with the foliage the piece stands nearly 3 feet tall! |
