Dry gourd shells can be difficult to work with. Your Ink Dye colors and other paints and products drag instead of glide on the gourd shell when it is dry making it hard to achieve the look you want in your art work.

This issue’s Featured Gourd Art is an adorable set of miniature “gourd people” by Mary Thimmesch!

Gourds have been woodburned and painted with metallic ink. The “hair” is made of colorful beads threaded onto wire, and each figurine holds a tiny, hand-beaded gourd.
